THE STORY
Colt introduced the Python in 1955: a double- and single-action revolver chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge. The distinctive ventilated rib above the barrel, which makes it recognisable at a glance, was Al Gunther's idea.
At launch it cost 125 dollars, the same price as the Single Action Army that had just returned to production. The Python left the catalogue by 1990 and for a time was offered only by the Colt Custom Shop.
