Historical background:
The PPSh-41 (Pistolet-Pulemyot Shpagina in Russian) was a submachine gun designed by Georgi Shpagin as a cheap, simplified alternative to the PPD-40. It was a magazine-fed, blowback-operated automatic weapon firing from an open bolt, and one of the main small arms of the Soviet armed forces in the Second World War. More than 6 million PPSh-41s are estimated to have been made during the war. It could be fed from a curved box magazine or a drum, with the 7.62×25 Tokarev cartridge. The PPSh-41 was also widely used in the Korean War.
